In a world increasingly obsessed with finding one’s own identity, relating to others has become a complex phenomenon. More than ever, individuals seek to validate themselves by labeling others as ‘deviant’. With the internet serving as an infinite database, a label is quickly found, and the cancel strategy is swiftly deployed.
The Danger of the Digital Label
The problem with an internet definition is that it lacks the years of effort and specialized instruments required to truly interpret a concept correctly. Using a label against another human being is a gross violation of humanity—a definition that eventually applies to the accuser as well.
The Duty of the Citizen
Individuals in a society have a duty to sometimes remain silent, to show support, and to call in help from those specifically trained to provide it. Anyone who takes this role upon themselves without verification traps themselves in a snare of their own making.
Conclusion: Keeping Order
The moral of the story is simple: citizens should show understanding, and specialists should offer help. By maintaining this distinction, we keep society in good order and minimize the number of victims—except for social media operators, who have turned chaos and conflict into a business model.
